Furumi worked at the Bank of Fukuoka from 1981 to 2009. From 2007 to 2009, he was in charge of credit risk review and branch operations auditing at the Internal Audit Division of the Fukuoka Financial Group. Prior to that, he worked in financing at the branch level, credit approval at the Credit Division, and corporate retail promotion at the Sales Promotion Division.
